In a devastating turn of events—especially for those of us who feel immense anxiety at the passing of time—June is coming to a close. But as the old Tumblr-esque adage goes: don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened. And boy, did June give us plenty to smile about over in the Entertainment section at The Everygirl.
First and foremost, the Everygirls wanted to know exactly how the summer solstice would impact their zodiac sign. I mean, we all saw Midsommar, we know how the day can go... Thankfully, the stars point to no sacrificial rituals in our future. June is also the season of the coastal grandma, so naturally, our readers have been curling up for Nancy Meyers marathons and devouring all the coastal gma book recs. So it’s no surprise that our Nancy Meyers movie ranking article was one of our top-clicked this month. If you passionately disagree with our lineup, feel free to send us your hot takes, but please be gentle because I’m sensitive.
In newer pop culture news, the Netflix limited series Sirens was the talk of our watercooler Slack channel, and our readers seemed to love the fun, quirky watch just as much. Idk about you, but after watching, I’m honestly here for a Lilly Pulitzer renaissance. And Just Like That also returned (derogatory). Anyway… moving on!
While SJP may not be living up to her Sex and the City legacy, in the book world, Taylor Jenkins Reid is only exceeding her fans' expectations. This month, she blessed us all with the release of Atmosphere, and my Goodreads account will never be the same. Overall, it was a fabulous month to be media-obsessed.

I had a sick realization this morning: July is next week, and I haven’t taken a single PTO day to willingly get a sunburn in the heat box that is the outside world. And I’m not alone! This week, the girls are working hard at their desks, but thankfully, I think we’re finally getting the hang of clocking out on time and saying "no" to work that we actually don’t want to do, like ever. I don’t want to jinx it, but I think this is the closest we’ve ever gotten to leaving hustle culture at the door??
In all this newfound free time (lol), the girls have been girding their loins for what's next in this economy and reassessing their budgets—because what’s more empowering than claiming financial freedom as a woman? That’s right, nothing.
If your head has been wrapped up in all work, no play, too, know you’re not alone, but don’t ever forget that my whole job is to make sure you have the resources to get you through.
Time to clock out,
Hailey

Hello to all my wellness girls! Between taking some much needed PTO, ramping up solo episodes for The Everygirl Podcast, and fitting in time for the things that make me feel good, July snuck up on me this year! It’s no secret that June can come with a lot of that “oh sh*t summer is here time to lock in” messaging, but the Everygirls know better. We traded 75 Hard for a 30-day challenge focused on joy and ease, took our cues from slower lifestyles around the world, and opted for methods like 30/30/30 that make lifestyle changes sustainable.
Of course the warmer weather has us out strolling again (in the right shoes!), and if you’re searching for a soundtrack… might I suggest you tune in to our Summer Glow Up Series? And maybe toss on a weighted vest to spice up your walking routine while you’re at it.
Now listen, I love a self-help book as much as the next girl, but when summer stikes I’m opting for something a little, well, smuttier. But that doesn’t mean I want to stop learning. It’s no surprise this article was a reader favorite. If you want to micro-dose the best lessons from our favorite self-help books, this one is for you.
In case you needed to hear it, this is your friendly reminder that all the fitness and wellness and routines and optimization are supposed to help you live your best life. If you find yourself stressing over your workouts, your nutrition, and your routine so much you’re missing out on the joy of summer, we’ve officially lost the plot. So go touch grass, put on your swimsuit, and spend time in community with your people. The routine will always be there (and so will we, with allll the tips).
Cheers,
Josie
