Welcome to The Everygirl Edit! Get to know the team behind The Everygirl with a peek at the photos on our personal mood boards, the things dominating our algorithms, and the items currently sitting in our shopping carts.
Meet Lauren:
Hey Everygirls! I’m Lauren, Assistant Editor at The Everygirl, coming to you live from Austin, Texas. Day to day, I’m pitching and writing all sorts of stories for the site (though you can often find me under the Entertainment vertical as a relentless fangirl for all things books, TV, and movies), updating and editing articles, and helping out wherever it’s needed across the editorial team. Right now, I’m prepping for what I would consider a national holiday: Emily Henry’s latest book release. Outside of work, the weather has warmed up in Texas, so I’m doing my best to bring all the Euro summer vibes down south (because who has an international trip in the budget these days??).

How did you start working at The Everygirl?:
I’ve been a longtime reader of The Everygirl, so when I saw they were hiring an Editorial Intern, I knew I had to apply. I was equal parts thrilled and nervous when I got the job and started, but I quickly learned that the team is full of the coolest, most welcoming, and most inspiring women I’ve ever met. From there, I transitioned to a Lifestyle Staff Writer and later became an Assistant Editor. It’s been an incredible journey every step of the way!

Your Perfect Saturday:
My perfect Saturday would start with a reformer Pilates class at Homebody Studios with a friend (and in this perfect world, it’s free because no one talks about the cost of being a Pilates princess) in a matching workout set that makes me feel like I have every single aspect of my life together. Then we’d grab coffee (iced vanilla latte, of course) and head out on a boat on Lake Austin (How? Unclear. This is a dream day…I’m not responsible for logistics). I’d get some color, listen to fabulous music, take a dip, and then sneak in some quiet reading time to recharge.
Next up: dinner with the girls at a swanky restaurant where the food is great, and the spritzes are even better. After solving the world’s problems over dinner and drinks, we might swing by a local dive for one more round before heading home for a full eight hours of sleep. If I’m getting greedy, let’s also toss in a massage and a perfectly candid Instagram story somewhere along the way.

Red light before bed! Unfortunately for my wallet, everyone online wasn’t lying—the Hatch alarm clock really is life-changing. Every night before bed, I read with the red light feature on, and I’m out in minutes.

Account You’re Loving:
I’m absolutely obsessed with Hannah Connolly’s Instagram, TikTok, and Substack. She has a weekly series called “notes on: spicing up this week” where she breaks down exactly how to romanticize each week in the most beautiful way—describing the energy it encapsulates and sharing little things you can do to lean in and make the most of the mundane. Reading them has become a Sunday ritual for me, and even if I don’t check everything off her to-do list, it helps me move through each day intentionally.

One Piece of Advice You Think Every Woman Should Hear:
As a type-A person who spends more time overthinking than doing literally anything else, I love the mantra: “Having fun is fun.” I don’t remember where I first read it, and to some people, it might sound like the simplest thing in the world, but for me, it’s a much-needed reminder. When I get caught up in chasing goals, having my life “together,” and sticking to routines for the sake of routine (and not myself), remembering that having fun is FUN snaps me back to what actually matters. Life isn’t about checking things off a to-do list. Skip the workout and go dancing until 4 a.m.!
Cheers,
Lauren

Absolutely loved getting to know one of my favorite writers on The Everygirl better! Always a huge fan when I see I get to chat (read) about books on the site with someone who I'm pretty sure shares the exact same reading taste as me. And that mood board? Summer swoons!
Love these "from the desk" articles. They are so interesting!
