Welcome to The Everygirl Edit! Get to know the team behind The Everygirl with a peek at the photos on our personal mood boards, the things dominating our algorithms, and the items currently sitting in our shopping carts.
Meet Allyson:
Allyson here! I’m the Editor-in-Chief and have been with The Everygirl in many different roles since 2012. My day-to-day mostly involves supporting the incredible, talented women on our team as we create content for the site. I help set the creative direction and provide edits and feedback, but most of my time is spent big-picture planning or problem-solving behind the scenes. I especially love the days when I get to be more hands-on with content creation because that’s my favorite part of the job: dreaming up an idea and watching it come to life. I’m 35 and live just outside of Austin where I spend my free time trolling my husband with my very opinionated 3-year-old daughter and two Boston Terriers.

How did you start working at The Everygirl?:
I was The Everygirl’s very first remote intern in 2012. At the time, I was in my final year of college, working full-time, and trying to figure out what life after graduation would look like. I wouldn’t recommend piling your plate quite as high as I did—but it was the girlboss era, and that’s just what we did. After graduation, I moved to Los Angeles for a full-time role at another company and had to step away from interning once things got too busy. A few years later (2015), I was ready for the next step in my career—and as luck would have it, The Everygirl was ready to bring on their first full-time hire. That person was me! Within a few months, I’d grown our traffic so significantly that we were able to bring on more team members. I've been here growing our team ever since!

Next Travel Destination:
Every summer, we plan a big end-of-season trip with all of our college friends. It’s always a pain to find a house and destination that works for everyone, but it ends up being my favorite trip of the year. Honestly, we could go down the street and I’d still be happy—it’s all about the people you’re with. As life gets busier, friendships take more effort, but they’re always worth working for. This year we are headed to the beach and I cannot wait.
Currently:
Listening To: 90s and 2000s top hits playlists on Spotify because my vibe is the freedom of nostalgic 2000s summer. First of all, there are so many BANGERS. Second, there's nothing that will bring you back to earth faster than hearing a song you used to cry to in your car over a boy you wouldn't look twice at now. It's the musical equivalent of touching grass and remembering it's all going to be okay.

Fun Hobbies or Side Quests:
I'm a mom (mommy? mamacita) to a spirited three-year-old girl, which means I get to relive all the best childhood hobbies through playing with her. Lately, she's all about art and princesses, so we spend a lot of time coloring with sidewalk chalk, crafting, painting, playing dress-up, and having movie nights on the couch. If I wasn't a parent, I'd probably be doing the grown-up version of these hobbies—like trying my hand at something like needlepoint or watercolor painting.
Life Hack or Tip You’re Loving:
In March, for my birthday, my husband and I planted roses across the front of our house. They started as tiny little nubs with nothing on them. I water them a few times a week and feed them once a month, but overall taking care of them isn't a huge part of my week. Now, they’re growing like crazy and blooming nonstop. It brings me so much joy to check on my little babes every morning—but more than that, it’s a reminder that growth doesn’t require massive changes. It can come from small actions, done consistently. Time will pass either way, and suddenly, there’s something new and beautiful. You just have to start—even if it's just a little thing. I'm trying to bring this to everything in my life I want to invest in.

Recent Recipe Recs:
Whenever I don't know what to make, I turn to Mad About Food and am never disappointed. Recently, I have been hyper fixated on her Lemon Caesar Dressing. I will throw some chicken tenders in the toaster oven and make a massive caesar salad bowl for lunch. My other hyper-fixation is fresh strawberries and whip cream for dessert. It's completely wiped out all my sugar cravings and I look forward to it every night.
Self-Care You’re Loving:
It’s Love Island season, which means a serious commitment to nightly TV viewing. I’ve turned that time into my stretching and strength-training hour. While I watch on my iPad, I’ll do yoga poses, stretch, and use kettlebells or light weights—and I fully relish being sore the next day. Honestly, if you’re out of shape like I am but hoping to change that, the best part about getting back into a routine is that even 20 minutes will leave you sore (in the best way).
Account You’re Loving:
My friend (and former Everygirl) Juley is the ultimate inspiration. She balances a love of aesthetics/food/motherhood with speaking out about the injustice happening in our country right now. She's such a good reminder that we can live in happiness while creating beautiful things and not turn a blind eye to the absolute shit show happening in the world.
