Meet Lex:
Hellooo Everygirls! Social Media Editor Lex here. I used to primarily work on content for The Everymom, but I’m so excited to be creating content for The Everygirl now, too—so prepare to be sick of me! If you’ve recently seen or shared a silly meme or a tear-jerking post of ours, there’s a chance I was behind it. (You’re welcome, or I’m sorry?) Like most Zillennials working in social, I have an undying love for pop culture and a deep yearning for the past. So, when I'm not deep in the digital world, I’m probably still living out my childhood pop star dreams—singing karaoke or writing music in my bedroom. But I promise I do get outside and touch grass sometimes—especially with spring in Portland being so beautiful (most days.) Here’s what else I’m currently into and up to:
Current Moodboard:
How did you start working at The Everygirl?:
I’ve been an Everygirl reader since I was a teen and always dreamed of working here, but nothing on the job board ever felt like quite the right fit—or the right timing—until the Social Media Editor role popped up last March, just as I was feeling burnt out from my job as a copywriter in the ad industry. In a lot of ways, it felt like fate. (My March playlist theme was all about luck and manifestation, and my Everygirl tech background at the time featured a photo of St. John’s Bridge—in Portland, where I live!) I wanted to take it all as a sign, but tried not to get my hopes up. A few weeks later, that offer letter landed in my inbox. I still pinch myself when I think about it, and I’m so grateful my dream job turned out to be exactly what I hoped it would be.

Thrifted finds and vintage vibes:
Candle Warming Lamp: I got this gorgeous vintage-looking candle warming lamp for my desk, brand new at the thrift store for $9, but I found the exact same one on Amazon, so you can snag it too!
Sam Edelman Lorraine Loafers: These white loafers are my go-to shoe for spring and summer. They required little to no breaking in and I love how they can elevate any simple outfit.
Coach Brooklyn Bag 39 in Ruby: As a vintage Coach collector, it takes a lot for me to splurge on a new, modern bag—but I finally treated myself to this viral one because I've been wanting a good, throw-everything-in-this purse.
Silk Satin Pajama Set: Matching pajama sets just make winding down and waking up feel so much more luxurious. 🤌

Your Perfect Saturday:
Start the day off by making a matcha latte, and journaling while listening to my playlist. (I make a new one each month with a theme, and as a May baby, this month’s is all about growth and letting go to make room for whatever’s ready to bloom next. EW, I know, I’m such a cornball!) Once my husband’s awake, I love getting outside together. Brunch is my favorite meal of the day, so I'll pick a cute local spot for a mean Eggs Benny. After that, we go on a nature walk or hike, and then before heading home, I almost always wanna pop into a thrift store. When we get home, I'll let myself be lazy the rest of the day before ending the night with a cozy at-home pasta dinner (with a side of focaccia, a bottle of wine, and a sweet treat for dessert—all from our fave neighborhood market), paired with a movie or show. It’s the little things!
Next Travel Destination:
Currently planning a late Paris honeymoon for next year, but in the meantime, we’re aiming for more weekend trips this spring and summer—which are usually a lot cheaper and easier to plan! Plus, it gives me an excuse to check out more boutique hotels. Our next stop is the Oregon coast!

Fun Hobbies or Side Quests:
I just bought a new Traveler’s Notebook and am excited to get a little crafty and dive back into travel/art journaling to document all my spring and summer memories. It’s also just another creative outlet that's completely offline!
Life Hack You’re Loving:
Do 1 thing every day that your future self will thank you for. It can be anything—big or small i.e. call to make the appointments you’ve been dreading, or it can be as simple as loading the dish washer before bed on a night you really don’t feel like it, so you can wake up to a clean kitchen. I often find that when I decide to do 1 thing, I get motivated to do something else, too!

Recent Recipe Recs:
My favorite lazy girl lunch is always some variation of this spicy tuna bowl—fresh, nourishing, and seriously delicious, with no cooking required (unless you wanna make a pot of rice, but I usually just use a microwave pouch.) And topping it off with Trader Joe's Furikake Seasoning is a must.
Self-Care You’re Loving:
Limiting my screen time. I spend a lot of time online already for work, and it’s easy to get sucked in during my off hours, too. So, I use the Opal app to block social media during certain times of the day, which forces me to stop scrolling and do something else.
Account You’re Loving:
@everylastlayer who documents her hotel-inspired apartment, complete with a hotel bar and a speakeasy-themed bathroom. I looove staying in boutique hotels and am currently trying to make my home and life feel more like that, so her inspo is unmatched.
What’s your current tech background?
I actually always use 2 because I can't live without a second screen. My main one is the Italian Hillside One for May, and my 2nd screen is pretty much always the New York City buildings one from March.
One Piece of Advice You Think Every Woman Should Hear:
Anything you really love deserves space in your life, whether it becomes a career or stays a hobby. Only you know what truly fulfills you, and you deserve to let that inform your choices. For example, I delayed majoring in Communications because of others' opinions (it was still seen as a “fluff” major), but once I finally pursued my own interests, everything clicked and led me to a career I love. These loves don't have to be monetized to matter either though. I recently rediscovered my love for music and theater—not to become the next American Idol or anything, but because they make me happy. And those passions (scriptwriting, understanding tone and voice, loving pop culture, etc.) influence my work today too, anyways. TL;DR: What lit you up as a kid can still guide you as an adult, and life's honestly way more fun when you let it!
Cheers,
Lex
