What is tarot?
Technically, tarot refers to any set of cards that is used for fortune-telling. However, the most popular tarot decks today originated in Italy in the 1400s. The traditional tarot deck contains 22 Major Arcana cards, which divulge greater secrets about your highest self, and 56 Minor Arcana cards, which are more minute predictions about your future self. This all might sound very esoteric to you, but honestly, the point of tarot is just to give you some guided insight into your future self. Like astrology, it’s not a one-and-done prediction—you can always take what you need from a tarot reading and forget the rest.
How does tarot work?
When a tarot card reader pulls cards for you, they can do several different variations of tarot readings. The most classic version is an 11-card layout, but there are simpler versions, too.
